Optional performer tipping

Make it easy for an audience to show their appreciation.

Cash is no longer the only way an audience can leave a tip. Helios Song Requester Pro can place tipping directly alongside the audience experience, without making it the focus of the show.

Two ways to tip

A Tip Jar, or a tip attached to a song request.

Helios gives performers two distinct ways to offer tipping. Both are optional, and you decide which approach suits your act, your venue and your audience.

Tip Jar

A clearly visible Tip Jar button can be placed on the audience page. Its wording can be personalised, allowing someone to leave a gratuity without making a song request.

It is a simple digital equivalent of the traditional tip jar, particularly useful where audiences increasingly carry little or no cash.

Tip for a song

Where enabled, an audience member can add a tip while making a song request. The request and the gratuity remain part of the same straightforward audience interaction.

A tip does not promise that a song will be performed or determine the running order. The performer remains in control of the show.

How it works

Designed to stay out of the way.

1. Audience choosesThey use the Helios page on their own phone and choose the available tipping option.
2. Payment is handledThe payment route uses the performer's connected Stripe account.
3. Performer performsHelios handles the mechanics while you remain focused on entertaining the room.
Your money

Helios does not need to hold your tip money.

The tipping system is designed around the performer's own Stripe connection. Helios provides the audience interface and payment route rather than acting as the holder of the gratuity.

Stripe's normal payment-processing arrangements and charges apply to the performer's connected account.

Different audiences, different expectations

Tipping should suit the show.

Tipping culture varies considerably between countries, venues and types of entertainment. Helios therefore treats tipping as a configurable part of the system rather than something every performer must use.

You can decide whether tipping is appropriate for your audience and how prominently you want to present it. The aim is to make leaving a gratuity convenient when someone wants to do it, without turning the performance into a payment exercise.
